I don’t know how hard core you are about this ruby. I think I’m going the extra mile to see it on the BIG big screen in raliegh. It opens on imax today as well. For more have a look at this url: http://www.exploris.org/visit/imax/
IMAX is a bit much for me – I can barely stomach seeing movies on opening night as it is.
So we went last night. I enjoyed it very much, and was certainly surprised with the ending which was a complete departure from the book. Even though the name of the movie put the focus back on Charlie, the script really delved much deeper into Willy Wonka’s character. This was kind of interesting, but ultimately unnecessary.
The Oompa Loompa songs were outstanding! Each was done as a big Hollywood musical production, but in a different musical style. First, 1920’s chorus line with synchronized swimming, then a disco tune, then techno, etc.
On the whole, I would say this movie is very entertaining and just as good as the 1971 version, but not better.
