Pink pistols

From the truth-is-stranger-than-fiction department (or is that the we-couldn’t-make-this-up department?) I found this fascinating organization through an errant google search and I just had to share: the Pink Pistols.

“Thirty-one states allow all qualified citizens to carry concealed weapons. In those states, homosexuals should embark on organized efforts to become comfortable with guns, learn to use them safely and carry them. They should set up Pink Pistols task forces, sponsor shooting courses and help homosexuals get licensed to carry. And they should do it in a way that gets as much publicity as possible. ”

  1. At a time when people are screaming for gun control, I’ve never thought that was the answer. I’ve always supported education and training for responsible gun ownership. Generally it’s not the responsible gun owners anyone needs to worry about, but unfortunately its the dumbasses who give everyone a bad name. I’d almost be willing to start a local chapter.

  2. I see your point, but I just don’t think guns can ever SOLVE a problem of violence. It’s like trying to ease traffic by building roads, what do you get: more cars!

  3. A gun could save me in a very bad situation. The times I’ve gotten away from a violent situation or threatening situation involved such a helping of luck and randomness that I would rather not take my chances. I would rather be prepared. I went to my first shooting range with the Pink Pistols this weekend. It was a positive experience, and I’ll be returning.
